You're hiking up a hill, okay? For me, I notice it's easier to be in front. To be the leader. Cause I can set my own goals and limitations. When, if someone else is leading, I feel like I'm dragging. Weaker almost. When they stop, I stop. When they go, I go. Im dependent on them. If they go slow, so do I. But, I noticed when going up this massive hill, when I was leading I was focused on my breathing. I was focused on my progress. I focused on what was in front of me and ahead of me. I felt pumped by ME. No one else. I didn't even look back. I was a leader for me. I lead myself, and everyone else followed. If you focus on *you* and lead yourself with your ambition, motivation and goals and don't worry about anybody else! Think about what a movement and difference you could make! You're not focused on who's following you. You're just, natural leading. When we got about half way up the hill, I finally decided to take a break, even though I wasn't that tired. And everyone came up behind me and were like, "About time you stopped!" I hadn't noticed how fast I was going, until they told me. You don't know your own power, until it gets pointed out or you recognize it. You have to be a follower first though. You'll go through this, too. And you will soon realize it's easier to lead others. To be a leader. :)
Another ah-ha I had about this!! When you walk right behind someone, focusing on their moves. (Cause you both are focused on the same goal, in here-getting to the top of the hill, in our goals and literally.) If they make a mistake you can see, and choose a different path. If they step on a rock or twig and trip, you KNOW not to step on that. You learn from their example. And pick another route. OR, if they step somewhere and it is a good route, you're more likely to choose that route as well. (Getting a mentor)
If we lead ourselves, we can truly lead others and inspire them to become leaders as well.
